In remembrance of Vonette Bright

“Prayer is the greatest privilege and most revolutionary power available to the Christian, and God’s Word promises us its effectiveness. Campus Crusade was born in prayer and prayer is still our lifeline. History records the impact of what prayer has accomplished.”

Vonette Bright, 1926 – 2015 –

This early morning we received news of the home going of Mrs Bright. She has been suffering from acute leukemia and was in ill health in recent months. Even in her last days, she was still passionate and excited about the Great Commission and was encouraging global leaders to get the job done. She was ready and has been looking forward to meet Dr Bright and her Master.

While we are saddened by her passing, we are also inspired by her life of single-minded devotion to our Lord and the Great Commission. She has been a model helpmate and ministry partner to Dr Bright.

Let’s keep the bereaved Bright family in prayer in this season of loss.

We are grateful to the Lord for giving Campus Crusade for Christ/Cru such a godly couple, who helped start a global movement to help fulfil the Great Commission.

With prayers,

Memorial service

Watch recorded sessionA memorial service for Cru’s co-founder, Vonette Bright, was held on Friday, 8 January at 10 a.m. EST, celebrating her life and legacy.

“We do not grieve as the world grieves, but we do experience deep sadness and will miss her so much. It is not hard for me to imagine her in the welcome embrace of her Savior and of her beloved husband.”

“I can remember when I first heard that if I were the only person in the universe, Christ would still have died for me, and that I could know and experience His love and plan for my life. I immediately thought: If God has a plan for my life, I certainly wish He would hurry up and show me what it is.”
